SHAMROCK RUN

I ran in the Portland Shamrock 15K (9.3 miles) race this morning.  It was very cold, and very wet, but surprisingly there were still thousands of people who showed up.  Guess I felt like a true Oregonian.

I have never run in any race before, and being 6'0" and 210lb, I don't really have a runners body.  So I had a 5k, 8k, and 15k to chose from.  My ego & pride made me chose the 15k.  Go big or go home, right?  The race was in downtown Portland, and it went up Terwilligar Blvd (up hill!), and then down Barber Blvd.  I thought for sure I was going to pass out and die half way through it, but surprisingly I made it to the finish line.  And in better time than what I expected (oficial time = 96 minutes).

ME

I don't know why I am creating this blog. Boredom mostly I guess...

So... I am a 27, recently divorced dad of one awesome little kid. My son (Blake) takes up a lot of my free time, and just about all of my energy. I have been rather lucky / blessed in a lot of aspects of my life, and I am always looking for the next challenge. I enjoy a lot of team sports (soccer, basketball, football...), but seem to stick to myself a lot, so I have developed a love for the solo sports (snowboarding, surfing, swimming, hiking, and recently running).
